Frequently asked questions

Why are there different figures for packaging recycling?

Because they come from different sources and each of them refers to a different reality. For example, plastic recycling is different from packaging recycling, the same goes with residential packaging recycling, which cannot be compared to overall packaging recycling. That is why it is very important to have a good look at the waste universe the information refers to, not to mistake it with another information, since, although most of the data are correct, they cannot be compared.

Regarding packaging, official sources –Ministry for Ecological Transition and Eurostat, for example– consolidate their information on light residential packaging waste (data provided by local administrations through Ecoembes), glass residential packaging waste (data provided by Ecovidrio) and commercial and industrial packaging waste (data provided by companies representing manufacturers of packaging of different materials).
